Rain Gardens:  Beautiful and Functional
Presented by Lisa Loosigian, Program Coordinator for Soak Up the Rain NH, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services

The Nashua Garden Club is excited to offer its November program, Rain Gardens: Beautiful and Functional to be presented by Lisa Loosigian, Program Coordinator

for Soak Up the Rain NH, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES). Ms. Loosigian manages the Soak Up the Rain NH program, providing
technical, educational, and outreach services through presentations, training and assisting with projects.  She has worked in the stormwater field in both the private sector and at NHDES since earning a Bachelor of Environmental Sciences degree as a returning adult at University of New Hampshire in 2008. This enlightening and relevant presentation will occur on Wednesday, November  4th at 7:00 PM via a Zoom conference open to Nashua Garden Club members.

Did you realize that rain running off roofs and down driveways and streets often contributes to the pollution of our rivers and lakes?  Rain and run-off frequently carry pollutants like sediment, excess fertilizer, oil and grease, and then deposits them into nearby waterbodies rendering them unsafe and unhealthy. In this session, attendees will hear how rain gardens are stunning additions to home landscapes while they also clean the environment.  These beautiful features cleanse our precious rivers and lakes by capturing rain and run-off. Join us to learn how you too can build a good-looking and hardworking rain garden that will both soak up the rain and prevent water pollution.

In accorda
ncwith guidance from public health officials about limiting the spread of COVID-19, the Nashua Garden Club will conduct this session virtually via a Zoom conference.  Participation will be available to members of the Nashua Garden Club.  To inquire about membership, please see the membership section on our website: Nashua Garden Club membership.  Further questions can be sent to NashuaGardenClub@Gmail.com
