Welcome to the Nashua NH Garden Club

Next Event:  Wednesday November 6th  7:00 PM

The Kiss of Granite
Presented by Kevin Gardner

The Nashua Garden Club invites fellow New Englanders to its November 6th program, The Kiss of Granite, to be presented by Kevin Gardner, stone wall  builder for 40 years and author of "The Granite Kiss: Traditions and Techniques of Building New England Stone Walls".  Since publication of his book, he has also become a frequent speaker at New England historical societies, bookstores and libraries as well as distinct venues including the Canterbury Shaker Village, Castle-in-the-Clouds, Old Sturbridge Village and Boston's Arnold Arboretum.

Mr. Gardner will discuss a number of key topics addressed in his book including how and why New England came to acquire its 1000s of miles of stone walls, ways in which these walls and other dry stone structures were built, how styles emerged and then evolved and the significance of these structures to our famous New England landscape. You will also hear about the distinction between historical and contemporary wall-builders, a bit about restorations techniques and ongoing preservation activities.  While keeping listeners captivated with his stories and information, Mr. Gardner will actually build a miniature wall using tiny stoners from a 5-gallon bucket.

Join Garden Club members on Wednesday, November 6th at 7PM at the First Baptist Church, 121 Manchester Street, Nashua to learn and to watch the creation of an actual, little stone wall. If you have taken on stone structure projects of your own, we encourage you to bring questions or challenges for the Q and A session.

All are welcome.

Light refreshment will be served.

There will be no admission fee for this special program!

This event will be held rain or shine unless an Emergency Weather Watch is posted on WMUR TV.
