Traveling Cactus Show
Presented by Art Scarpa, Co-founder, Past President and Current Vice-President of the Cactus and Succulent Society of Massachusetts

The Nashua Garden Club is excited to offer the Traveling Cactus Show presented by Art Scarpa, cofounder, past president and current vice president of the Cactus and Succulent Society of Massachusetts on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00 PM via a Zoom conference open to garden club members. This upbeat and educational evening will
include a discussion of Cactuses’ native habitats, temperature and light requirements, cultural tips, fertilizers, propagation, insect controls, re-potting, soil mixes and sources for purchasing them. As an owner and caretaker for some 4,000 cactuses and succulents of 1,000 varieties, Art also judges for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, is current vice president of the Hobby Greenhouse Association and Indoor Gardeners of New England and is a member of the International Palm Society. A frequent lecturer for Cactus & Succulent Societies and at flower shows including those held in Boston and Newport, his plants have won numerous awards. Art’s accomplishments also include chairing events such as the Society Row Plant Sale, that has drawn up to 1500 visitors, and organizing 300+ volunteers to landscape and plant gardens in the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway located in Boston Mass.

Aging Gardens, Aging Gardeners
Presented by Ann McEntee, Advanced Master Gardener, Design Consultant and Landscape and Gardening Instructor

The Nashua Garden Club is excited to offer the Aging Gardens, Aging Gardeners presented by Ann McEntee, Advanced Master Gardener and garden design consultant.  This event will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 7:00 PM via a Zoom conference open to garden club members.  If you love your gardens but not the never-ending hours of maintenance that they demand or if you have come to the painful realization that you and your gardens have aged and changed over time, this presentation may relieve some of your concerns and challenges. It will provide strategies to garden more wisely, prioritize tasks, manage mature plants and, most importantly, tips to care for
yourself, the aging gardener. Ann holds degrees in Literature from the University of Texas and the University of California. She earned her doctorate in Theatre Arts from the University of California. After working 12 years in higher education, she pursued her long-standing avocation of landscape design and history and earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of New Mexico. Ann also the former lead gardener at the Cathedral of the Pines and is currently a garden design consultant, frequently presents to towns and organizations on gardening and teaches landscape, gardening and architectural history courses for the Keene State College CALL (Cheshire Academy for Lifelong Learning) program.
